with sympathy…

June 25, 2010

Hi all,

Hope you have all had a great week and are set for a fun, fantastic weekend. I am planning on making cards and using some of the different techniques that I have seen you clever people do so beautifully, but I have not tried having a go at them myself yet. Hopefully there may be something to show by Sunday night, that might make it onto my blog, that’s if I don’t ‘file’ it all into my pink filing system…the bin!! lol lol!!!

I made this card today, for my son’s work colleague who sadly lost her brother to cancer earlier this week. Timothy asked me to make something pretty for her and this is what I came up with for him. I have used the Upsy Daisy stamp with Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose inks. The Regal Rose has been also clear embossed. The card base is Melon Mambo and I used a backdrop of white glittered card stock under the centre piece of flowers and I framed the sides with floating, pink vellum butterflies with glittered wings. I used the same idea for the inside of the card without embossing the Regal Rose though, and I also stamped and embossed the front and the back of the envelope so it all went together beautifully.

Thank you for dropping by tonight.

Love,

Sally xx

birthday wishes…

June 23, 2010

Hi all, this is just a very quick post tonight of a card I made for a friend for her birthday earlier this week. Isn’t this little stamp so cute? I have been playing with my markers a lot again lately and I think I am starting to get the hang of shading and blending, but I need a lot more practice. Anyway… thanks for dropping by tonight.

Black Chandelier…

June 22, 2010

Today is our son’s birthday, he came into our lives, early one very chilly winter morning, 28 years ago. He was just the most gorgeous little boy ever, the first time we looked into his tiny face he quickly stole our hearts. Caree adored her little brother and smothered him in smootchy kisses for months, she was besotted with him, and when his little sisters came along they adored him too!! They are very close to one another and my hubby and I are very proud of the bond that they have created together, they are very good friends to each other.

Timothy, you are a dream come true for your Dad and I. We love you!!!

Happy Birthday Sunshine!!

I chose a theme of black and white for his birthday card, and kept it clean and stylish. Timothy loves black chandeliers so I thought this stamp would be a ‘must do’. It was given to me by a sweet friend early last year sometime, and I love using it, (it’s gorgeous done in pinks too…of course!!) lol I stamped the image onto white cardstock with Stazon Black ink and then heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I used a square piece of black glittered cardstock behind the white scallop circle to add some glitz, it is quite subtle but adds some texture to the card.

Thanks for popping by, enjoy the remainder of your afternoon, I am off to a Pain Specialist now, seeking help to manage my severe migraines!!

Take care, love,

Sally xx

WOW!! look at me…guest designer for Makeesha’s Inkspiration Colour Challenge #28…

June 19, 2010

Hi everyone,

WOW!!! Well what a fabulous end to a very busy week for me. I feel so honoured to be posting this card as the guest designer for Makeesha’s Inkspiration Colour Challenge #28 this week. I completely admire Keesh and her design team for inspiring us week after week for their dedication in creating something very special to share with us. With life’s business it cannot be easy making these deadlines every week but these very talented ladies do just that for us, they are amazing in my book! So a huge thank you to each one of  you, I appreciate your explosion of creativity that your inspirations bring weekly. I had a busy busy week this week with my granddaughters and I very nearly ran out of time, but here is my card, hope you like it. So this week’s challenge is a colour one, and the yummy, rich colours are…..

~~~ Pumpkin Pie, Elegant Eggplant, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White ~~~
The ‘putting together’ of my card was pretty easy once I had all the bits and pieces done. I am really loving the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder at the moment and find I reach for it quite regularly when I think something needs some texture!! Sandwiched between the Elegant Eggplant and the embossed dotty Pumpkin Pie petals and flower centre, I have used the Scallop Oval punch and the largest flower on the Boho punch, to give some interest using Stampin’ Dimensionals to separate the layers. When you first look at the flower you are drawn into it a little more because it’s not just the one layer of petals, but three, and each layer is different. I chose to use the Bird Punch for the leaves, lol, that’s probably something that only I would do, but (there is always a but isn’t there?) it was close at hand and met my needs in a moment of laziness!!!! hehe!!! Seriously though, there are lots of ways to use some products if you don’t label them specifically for only the one use. I inked one of the ‘friend’ words from the {friend to friend} sentiment with a Stampin’ Up Chocolate Chip marker and punched it out with the 1.3cm circle punch and placed it in a Build-A-Brad (These little gems are perfect for those times when you just don’t seem to have the right embellishment for your project). I love the finish the Chocolate Chip ribbon gives to my card, it’s been gathered similarly to the way you do when you want a pleated effect. I cut a measured length of Chocolate Chip cardstock, but the colour doesn’t really matter because it’s not seen, ran some Sticky Strip down one side of it, cut a longer more generous length of the ribbon and then I just worked the ribbon to make uneven intervals forming crooked loops that stand up, both ends are folded underneath the strip of card stock for neatness. So there you have it, a cheery card for a precious friend.
Pop on over and check out the beautiful work of Keesh and her Designer Team by clicking here Makeesha’s Inkspiration Colour Challenge #28, as usual their work is truly amazing!
fireworks!!!
June 19, 2010
Hi everyone,
 I just wanted to share this artwork with you. When you look at life through the eyes of a 4 year old you see a whole different world. While I was making cards yesterday Akiah was up beside me doing her own thing, like she does, when she spotted all my pretty glitters!!! She asked if she could use some, “just a so so so tiny little bit” I  didn’t realise she actually meant a so so so tiny little bit of every colour “cos, Granny fireworks have every colour didn’t you know”!!! So there you have it Fireworks by Akiah Lily Mae!! Cute hey??
thank you…
Hi all I wanted to thank everyone for their lovely comments for my card with the red crochet flowers, thoughtful comments are very encouraging and I really appreciate every one of them. Thank you Keesh for selecting my card as the challenge winner this week, I was so excited, you have no idea!! I have had a great week, cos I also won a huge set of very cute stamps from Kellie earlier in the week, out of over 90 people I was lucky 81, I can’t wait for them to arrive in the mail so I can ink them up and play. Thank you so much Kellie for this awesome bundle of stamps, I am so excited to have won.  A heartfelt thanks to every one for playing a special part in my very exciting week. God bless!
beautiful bright red crochet flowers…
June 8, 2010
Hi all, I am really excited tonight!! Wanna know why???? Well this is one of my favourite cards ever…and did you notice it’s not pink!!!LOL!!! I had soooo much fun making this card for Keesh’s Inkspiration Colour Challenge, and, for a quick minute, even thought I was very organised to have it posted before it closes this week, but I had to have a laugh at myself, this challenge doesn’t close until the 17th, LOL!! So I am super duper organised for once!!
The challenge this time is a colour challenge and the colours are Basic Grey, Real Red, Whisper White and Kraft. I used the Kraft as the base card and the Basic Grey is underneath the Real Red card stock. The night before I wanted to make this card, I got out my little bottle Real Red ink refill, and made a puddle with it and a tiny bit of water to die the cute crochet flowers, I used a lot of ink with only a little bit of water because I wanted the flowers to be a vibrant red and not a watery red. I lay them flat on my Glass Mat so they would dry overnight to be ready to be put to work in the morning. The red CS has been stamped with the BG  Weathered stamp in Basic Grey ink. Whisper White CS was run through the Big Shot using the Top Note die and stamped with the image from Kindred Spirits in Real Red ink. The next layer is a piece of white vellum card stock that has also been through the Big Shot using the Top Note die. Then I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure the ‘You’ stamp from Life Definitions went on straight. I inked the phrase and the little bee from Bloomin’ with Beauty stamp set in Basic Grey on top of the vellum and allowed it to dry so it didn’t smudge, I had to exercise patience here!! (not easy for me sometimes!!lol) I assembled all the layers together with brads hidden underneath the red flowers, sneaky hey?? Finally I put the 3 crochet flowers, that I had coloured the night before, over the brads using Pop-Up Glue Dots (because I thought the flowers might be a bit heavy on the vellum)  and there you go…my submission for Keesh’s Inkspiration Colour Challenge! Everything I have used is Stampin’ Up product. Why not join in and play along, just click here, to get to Keesh’s site and be inspired by her beautiful work.
Thanks for the opportunity Keesh to play along in another one of your super challenges, your work always inspires me, and your challenges make me think outside my ‘pink’ bubble!!
